Christmas Memories 2006

Nikki was very excited about Santa coming this year! She asked Santa for Doodle Doug, a bug that draws, and a pair of rollerblades. She has really gotten into ice skating and roller skating this past year. She has been so excited about the rollerblades, that she puts them on and rollerblades in the house for awhile everyday! Kenny has also taken her to Skateland a few times since Christmas and she has done a great job especially since she never rollerbladed before she got hers for Christmas. She was equally happy about everything else she received as well including toys and clothes. Since Emmi was too little to open her gifts, Nikki was more than happy to open her little sister's gifts for her. Nikki just enjoyed the overall experience!

Emmi on the other hand pretty much slept through the entire experience. I know next year she will be much more into what is going on than this year! I did get this one shot of her on Christmas Eve when her Uncle Sean was holding her that I thought was cute!

Overall, both girls made out like bandits with the amount of clothes and toys they received! My kids aren't spoiled or anything! :)

Notes about Emmi

A few little updates to share...

Emmi had lost 7 oz. at the hospital while waiting for my milk to come in. By the time she had her first dr's appointment, 5 days after birth, she had regained all that she had lost at the hospital thus returning to her birth weight of 7 lbs. 12 oz. Well, I took her last week for her second visit and she had gained 12 oz. since her last visit, which the dr. was extremely pleased about! So my growing girl now weighs 8 lbs. 8 oz.

The ultrasound technician got a picture of her foot when I was pregnant and commented about how big they were going to be and you know what they are really big. I have a plaster mold that I did of Nikki's feet when she was 9 months old and honestly Emmi's feet are only about a half of an inch smaller. I swear Nikki wore a size two shoe until she was about a year old, but I don't think Emmi will.

Emmi's first bath

Well Emmi was not that happy about her first bath which she received on the 23rd. It was decided that maybe the water was a little to cool for her, but I was afraid that I would make it too warm since I like near scalding hot showers. Honestly, she hates to be undressed, so I doubt it would have mattered if it was warmer or not, it still would not have been warm enough for her!

Christmas Craziness!!!

With Christmas coming things seem to be getting crazy around here. I can't believe that we managed to make cookies, that I have wrapped a portion of the gifts, and that I got my Christmas cards out in time! Pretty amazing considering that I feel like I don't have enough hours in my day. I seem to have forgotten how much time a newborn takes, guess you tend to forget things that happened 5+ years ago.

Emmi seems to have somewhat of a routine, but may have her nights and days mixed up since she tends to sleep about an hour longer during the day than she does at night. She also lost her umbilical cord stump this past Saturday, so when I get a free moment, she can have her first bath. Not exactly sure when that will be, probably after the holidays.

Nikki is really excited about Christmas and helping Emmi open her Christmas presents. Tomorrow is her Christmas party at School. I wish I could be there for it, but I am not ready to leave Emmi with anyone just yet.

This week I am including some snapshots of Emmi awake, which tend to be hard to get and one of her holding up her head, which she could do the day she was born. Crazy but true! Emmi doesn't soothe easily, crying when she is hungry, when she needs to be changed, when her clothes are changed, etc... so obviously it makes taking pictures difficult. I am also posting pictures of Nikki decorating cookies and cuddling with her sister. She can't get enough of me taking pictures of her and her sister. So glad that the bond runs deep!

Emily's First Week in Review

It is hard to believe that one week has already flew by. I am trying hard to enjoy our sweet new addition as I realize that she will grow up so fast and these special times of her being small and snuggly will go away very quickly. I am healing up and feel more like venturing out of the house to return to a somewhat normal routine. We took Emily to see Santa, visited and had dinner with the in-laws, and went grocery shopping. Maybe not the most exciting, but it is a start!

This week I have included some shots of Nikki in the bathtub, Emily with big Sister Nikki, who is still just as proud as ever, Santa, Mommy, and a photo of the beautiful pink roses that work sent to me to commemorate her birth. Hope you enjoy!

Rocket Baby - It's a ...

Nikki, Ken, and I are pleased to announce the arrival of Emily Rose, our sweet baby girl. She was born on December 3, 2006 at 6:21 pm. weighing 7 lbs. 12 oz. and measuring 19 in. long. She has a headful of dark brown hair and breastfeeds like champ.

I call her the rocket baby because she came out so quick that I wasn't able to have an epidural and my dr. barely made it to the delivery. We only arrived at the hospital at 4:30 pm, less than 2 hours before she was born.

We are all home recovering, adjusting, and doing very well. We would like to thank everyone that has called, visited, and e-mailed over the past week for thinking of us and our expanding family.

I have included a few pictures of Miss Emily who has been affectionately nicknamed Emmi(pronounced Emmy). Nikki has fallen in love with her new sister, has been a great big sister by helping out Mommy and Daddy, and can't get enough of holding little Emmi. We truely feel blessed with our new addition!
