Look at me...I got my ears pierced!

Nikki decided she was ready on Saturday, so we took her to the mall and let her get her ears pierced. We told her quite some time ago when some of her other little friends were getting theirs done that we would take her when she was ready! I refused to lie to her and tell her that it wouldn't hurt. I was upfront and told her that it would hurt, but just for a little while and then it would stop.

We had it done at Clair's boutique in the mall. I had to sign a waiver and receive instructions on how to take care of her ears. The sales lady was really nice and had another girl do it with her so they could be pierced at the same time (which was good because later when I asked Nikki if she would have had the second one done after the first one, she said no!).

You could tell she was scared when the time actually came. I was such a chicken myself that I couldn't watch and so Kenny took the pictures of her. I can remember back to my own childhood and having them done 2X because I didn't take care of them correctly the first time. I remember how much more they hurt the second time because I knew what to expect.

She was pretty stunned after it was all done and didn't say much for quite some time, but she didn't cry either. I could tell since she wasn't talking that they really hurt. I felt bad, but within 20 minutes she was starting to get back to her usually self. By the time she went to bed that night, they didn't hurt anymore and she was so excited to start showing them off!

So without further ado, here is Nikki with her new earrings! I remember we didn't get a choice when I had it done as a kid, it was pretty much studs or nothing. Aren't they cute?

Nikki and the Lawnmower

Here are a couple of outdoor shots of the girls from this past weekend. We were doing some of the yardwork and closing the pool. Nikki was funny, she thought she could cut the lawn without help, but the mower is much to strong for her. It was almost like a movie when it started to take off on her and she kept hanging on, which only makes it keep going. The only difference is that in the movie the person hangs on and runs over flowers; cutting them down. Luckily, Ken and I stopped her before that happened. Emmi watched everything from her stroller and was just as content as can be for about 2 hours while we got things done.

First Tooth

I finally got a picture of Emmi's first tooth that she got back on September 29th at almost 10 months old(click on the picture above to get a closer look). Let me assure you that it is very sharp...everything I was worried about when it came to nursing is sort of true. She has bitten me twice, but not broken the skin thankfully. It doesn't matter, it is still sharp and it hurts. She has also bitten Nikki a few times. So you have to be aware of the toofer(as I like to call it).

Emmi - 9 month professional photos (& Nikki too!)

Can't miss a milestone...but I do have to say that I am going broke trying not to miss them! Despite Emmi not being all that cooperative about having her photos taken, we were able to walk away with enough good ones for me to be happy with. She just wasn't into posing. Something tells me that she is just going to be one of those kids that is best to catch with candid shots and not by a regular photographer that wants to pose her.

Well, it's late so I just wanted to get this up since it has been awhile...I do have more but it will have to wait until next time.
