Bold and Sassy!

I generally try to keep the focus of this blog on the kids, but I have been thinking more and more about sharing other things like my scrapbook pages and other more personal things. I decided spur of the moment to get something new other than the usual blond highlights in my hair...so without further ado here is my new do!

I wasn't sure if I was going to like the new highlights after they were done. Red is pretty bold and flashy for me, and something that I have never done before. Now that I have been looking at it for a few days in the mirror, I have to say that I like it! The change feels good!

P.S. And about those scrapbook pages...don't be surprised if you start seeing those here every now and then too! :)

Carving Pumpkins and other Halloween Festivities

PRETTY FAIRY...

Ken took Nikki to the Halloween kids event in town called Hallohaven. I was going to take Emily and meet them up there, but it was cold and wet so we decided that it would be better if I stayed home with her instead.

They had games, face painting, and other fun things for the kids to do. Nikki came home with a bag of goodies and with her face painted like a blue fairy. The photos don't do the art work on her face justice. It was very detailed and included glitter. It was really pretty. She loved it so much she wore it for two day straight before we could persuade her to wash her face!

BRING ON THE PUMPKINS...

I had a good time carving pumpkins with the kids!

Typical Ken! Always a comedian! :)

Nikki was a great help when it came to cleaning out one of the pumpkins.

Nikki continues to work hard getting the pumpkin cleaned out.

Oh no! It looks like the pumpkin threw up on the table!

"You want me to do what?"

"No Way! I'm not going to touch that thing!"

Nikki helps get Emily interested in cleaning out the pumpkin.

After watching the rest of us working on the pumpkins, Emily starts to look like she might be interested in helping with the pumpkins.

Emily explores the guts of the pumpkin.

"Hey! This is kind of fun!"

Ken working hard on Nikki's Kitty pumpkin. It had a ton of details, but it was worth all the work when it was complete!

Here I am hard at work on Emily's pumpkin.

I ended up deciding to do something a bit easier than what Nikki picked for Ken to do. I went with a modified smiley face; the winking smile. Seemed appropriate with all of the technology in this day and age. I love smileys. I use them at the end of letters, e-mails, and texts all the time!

Here is Nikki's intricate Kitty cat! Looks cool, huh?

Hope your Halloween festivities were as fun as our's were!

The Many Adventures of Flat Stanley

Nicole read a story at school about the character named Flat Stanley, a little boy that gets flatten by a chalkboard and then gets mailed to relatives in California. Each of the kids in the class created a Flat Stanley to send to a relative or friend. Nikki wanted hers to go to Grandpa and Great Grandma. He ended up sitting on our kitchen table until we drove up north to visit them for the weekend. Grandpa was kind enough to take him on his deliveries one day and we also showed him around town. These are his stories...

October 25, 2008

After having sat on the counter at home waiting to be mailed for what seemed like forever, they finally took me some place. Today we got into the car and drove up north to Sanford, Michigan to Great Grandma Theresa’s house.

We also got to see Grandpa Clark. He might take me on his deliveries this week. On the way we only stopped at one rest area and a McDonald’s for breakfast. Sanford is kind of a rural area. They have a little bit of everything; a grocery store, post office, and a few places to eat, but it is still pretty country like with farming and wooded areas. We did go to Mt. Pleasant for dinner at a Chinese restaurant called The Great Wall, which was a buffet. It was pretty good. Mt Pleasant is a college town, home of Central Michigan University. Another big attraction in Mt. Pleasant is the Soaring Eagle Casino, but we didn’t stop there.

October 26, 2008

After having breakfast and visiting for awhile, Nicole and her family are packing up to go home now. They are leaving me with Grandpa and Great Grandma. Hopefully this week is more interesting than the past few weeks have been sitting on the dining room table.

October 27, 2008

Grandpa took me on his deliveries today to Chesaning and Owosso. First stop was Chesaning where we took four pallets of product off the truck. We then picked up the empty pallets and store transfers. Chesaning is a rural area with lots of farm fields and wooded areas in and around it. It is a pretty small town.

We took off to Owosso shortly after that. We had three pallets to take off there. Again, we picked up the empty pallets and store transfers. We then had to load the cardboard on the truck before we headed back to Chesaning to get their cardboard. Owosso is a lot like Chesaning in that it is a rural area with lots of farm fields and wooded areas.

We then headed back to the warehouse but first we had to get rid of the cardboard at Brady’s. When we unloaded the cardboard at Brady’s, Grandpa sat me on the back of the truck. I laughed at him as he unloaded all the cardboard.

We then headed back to the warehouse and unloaded the empty pallets and store transfers.

October 29, 2008

After hanging out at Grandpa’s house, today he packaged me up in my envelope and mailed me back to Nicole so she will be able to take me back to school next week. It took me about 2 days to get back to Nicole’s house. It was a pretty bumpy ride going through the mail system.

October 31, 2008

Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to attend the Halloween Party at school with Nicole. I arrived home in Friday’s mail well after she came home from her half day of school. However, I did make it home in time to go Trick or Treating! I had a great view from her mom’s pocket and could see all the kids dressed up in their costumes.

When we got back from Trick or Treating I checked out the candy Nicole’s sister got in her trick or treat bag.

Emily, Nicole’s sister didn’t do too bad for a baby, her bag was pretty full! Nicole had so much that I had to spread it out all over the lawn to really see what she got.

Nicole also let me try on her Hannah Montana wig from her costume, but I have to say that I am definitely not a bleach blond kind of guy!

I also checked out the pumpkins they carved while I was making deliveries with Grandpa.

It looks like they had a good time doing them, and I wish I could have been around for the fun.

November 1, 2008

After doing some quick birthday shopping in the morning, we headed to a Halloween themed birthday party in Rockwood. They propped me up in front of the cake so I could see all of the festivities.

The kids were dressed in their Halloween costumes and some adults were too. At least I hope those were costumes on the adults! There was plenty of food and presents for the birthday boy and girl to open. It was a joint birthday party for brother and sister of Nicole’s friend, Jillian. After the rest of the party guests went home, we stayed awhile longer and visited. Jillian ended up coming home to spend the night with Nicole.

November 2, 2008

Today was kind of boring! We just stayed home and did things like clean the house and do laundry. I guess some days are just like that, but I am looking forward to going back to school with Nicole tomorrow and sharing all of my adventures with her class.

There is a big gapping hole...

in my child's mouth! LOL!

I guess it was time for her to start losing her baby teeth as all of her friend's had already lost quite a few. She was very late getting teeth in the first place, sixteen months old for the very first one, so I guess it would only be normal for her to loose her first one well after the other kids had lost their's. Yes, I did say sixteen months not six months!

She was so excited when she finally lost her first one, the one on the bottom, on October 9th. The tooth fairly was very generous for the first one and left $20. She quickly lost her top one on October 28th which led to the gapping hole.

We had her pose with a hockey stick on Halloween because quite honestly she looks like a hockey player with that big gapping hole in her mouth! Hannah Montana meets a Red Wing hockey player...kinda cute, right?

Luckily, in my opinion, for her school pictures this year she still had all her teeth and her picture turned out pretty good. I guess it didn't matter all that much because she had a no teeth smile anyway! Isn't my big girl a cutie?
