Snow much fun even without much snow!

So what is a kid to do without much snow? Make fun with what little snow there is! Granted when I look outside today we have plenty of snow, but the other day I took these pictures thinking that it was the closest to a Winter Wonderland that Nikki was going to get. She has been hoping and praying for snow to play in since well before Christmas, and finally got her wish. Needless to say these photos of her making the best of hardly any are priceless!

Bath time revisted!

Ok, so the first bath wasn't that enjoyable! After a few more, I think Emmi has learned that bath time can be fun time!

Playtime!

Emmi is starting to enjoy playing on the floor, especially now that we are putting her on her play mat. I think she really enjoys it because of the little critters that hang above her and also because Nikki will get down on the floor with her and shake and squeak the little critters for her. She is also getting really good at holding up her head for short periods of time.

Emmi is growing like a weed!

You may have noticed that many of the pictures I have posted are of Emmi sleeping because that is typically when she is content. Every evening she has a very unhappy, crying spell that usually lasts a few hours. The dr. says she has colic and that there is not much we can do other than make sure all her needs are met; feeding, changing, etc... and that eventually she will grow out of it. It is tough watching your baby cry uncontrollably and have no way of really soothing her. This has been going on for almost 4 weeks and I can already tell you that I CAN'T WAIT for it to be over!

I took Emmi to the dr. today since she was so fussy the past few days, just to make sure she didn't have an ear infection or anything else wrong beyond her usual colic. Turns out she is perfectly healthy. She now weighs 10 lbs. and is 21 1/2 inches long. My little girl is growing up so fast already! The dr. says she looks great!

She has started cooing and smiling this past week. Kenny finally caught a smile with the camera tonight that I just had to share! It is good to know that even if she is fussy at times, she is content at other times!

Pippi Longstocking!

I just love this outfit that my Aunt Sheila picked out for Nikki. She sent it to her when she became a big sister. Doesn't it remind you of Pippi with all the stripes?

Christmas Cards 2006

Ken took a photo of the Christmas cards we received this year which I proudly displayed on the basement door. We received lots of photos and letters. I enjoyed seeing and reading about how everyone has changed over the past year.

Nikki's Christmas Party at school

A photo of Nikki from her Christmas party at school with one of her classmates, Gina. They both wore the same Christmas shirt to the party. Nikki enjoyed her party and talked endlessly about the "skating rink" the teacher created for the kids to pretend skate on which you can see in the second photo. I told you she loves skating!

The story of our Christmas card photo

My intention was to take a photo of the kids in their Christmas clothes, but since Nikki was sick and Emmi was uncooperative, I ended up having to look through the candid shots of the kids and found this one. It went so well with the background I choose that I think it ended up working out well! I guess when things don't work out the way you plan, that it can be for the best!
